Site Supervisor - Projects

Salary: R40 000 Basic + R9500 Travel Allowance + Benefits

Reporting to the Head of Customer Service, the Site Supervisor Projects oversees the daily operations at project sites to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, managing site staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Site Supervisor Projects acts as the main point of contact between the site workforce and project management, ensuring that the project objectives are met.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Matric / NQF4

  • Diploma / Degree in Construction Management or Engineering.

​

Requirements:

  • Technical Background

  • Min 3-5 years’ experience in construction/site related role

  • Min 3-5 years’ experience supervising workshop/site staff

  • Experience with Maritime Cranes

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily site activities and operations to ensure the project is progressing as planned.

  • Monitor and manage the performance of on-site staff and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety standards and quality control are maintained.

  • Liaise with the Project Coordinators, Technical Teams, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.

  • Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment to the site, ensuring that they are available when needed to avoid delays.

  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site, escalating to the Project Team Leader as necessary.

  • Enforce adherence to all safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for all site personnel.

  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety on-site.

  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with local and company regulations.

  • Ensure that all work meets the required standards of quality as per the project specifications.

  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality of work and materials used.

  • Document and report any deviations from the project plan or quality standards to the Project Coordinator.

  • Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, including progress reports, work logs, and incident reports.

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on site progress, challenges, and any deviations from the project plan.

  • Assist the Project Coordinator in preparing and reviewing project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and work plans.

  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends as required by the project schedule

  • Travel may be required depending on the location of the project site

SHERQ Officer

Salary: R41 000 Basic

Reporting to the Head of Training and SHERQ Manager, the SHERQ Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the safety, health, environmental, risk and quality requirements, and its contractors’ pack as well as legal training requirements for the company. Suitable candidate must have 3-5 years’ experience in a Port environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Safety Management or related field or a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety. 

  • Candidate MUST be registered as a SACPCMP SHERQ Officer. 

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Contractor Management

  • Risk Management

  • Legal Compliance

  • Management System including safety meetings and implementation of discussion

  • Monthly Safety Inspections

  • Booking of Medicals & Induction in conjunction with the site administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Managing, updating, compiling and control of safety files/contractors’ packs

  • Arranging induction and medicals of employees for site access to client sites (ports, vessels, oil & gas industry, etc.)

  • Managing, updating, compiling and control of policies, procedures, work instructions, risk assessments, etc

  • Ensure company policies, procedures, work instructions, etc. are adhered too

  • Managing, updating, compiling SHE compliance for both company and clients’ sites

  • Safety Training for all staff.

  • Assist with the upkeep of the Durban branch.

  • Incident and accident investigations

  • SHE signage and demarcations management

  • Fire systems (fire extinguishers inspection)

  • HCS (hazardous chemical substances), correct storage and use

  • Corrective actions (corrective and preventative actions for internal and external audits and general maintenance requirements

  • Managing, compiling and assisting of baseline risk assessments, continuous and task orientated risk assessments for site

  • Managing clients’, SHE audits (contractors’ packs) towards total compliance. Visit to clients’ sites as and when required

  • Legal training (bookings, arranging, certificates, update the training register and managing training requirements for employees for instant OHC, forklift, eye tests, etc.)

  • First aider, SHE Rep and Safety Officer for the area
