Technical Sales Engineer

Reference - C424

Location: East Rand, Gauteng

Salary: R49 000 - R56 000 CTC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Communication: Translate and explain complex technical information to customers, ensuring clarity and understanding.

  • Product Demonstration: Utilize technical expertise to showcase the benefits and suitability of products and services to potential customers, highlighting advantages over competitors.

  • Sales Process Management: Conduct price negotiations, provide quotations, and close contracts with customers, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal sales, technical after-sales support and marketing teams to support value offerings troughout the sales process.

  • Market Development: Research and develop prospects within assigned accounts and market segments, identifying new business opportunities.

  • Industry Knowledge: Maintain a solid understanding of general business principles, the SWR and lifting industry to effectively engage with customers and competitors.

  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain an extensive network of relationships within the industry, fostering long-term partnerships.

  • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve conflict situations, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.

  • Travel Requirements: Be prepared to travel both locally and regionally as required to perform duties effectively.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Engineering; Technical diploma advantageous.

  • 5–10 years’ experience in an industrial setting, ideally in external sales or customer service

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SAP

  • Strong technical ability and sales negotiation skills

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills

  • Industry knowledge of SWR and lifting highly advantageous

Rental Controller

Industry: Materials Handling / Equipment Rental

Salary: Market Related

A leading equipment rental company is seeking a Rental Controller to manage short-term rental operations at its Bellville branch. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, assertive, and experienced in handling high-pressure, high-volume environments. This role involves end-to-end rental coordination - from handling rental enquiries and issuing agreements, to ensuring unit readiness, transport logistics, and managing returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle all incoming rental enquiries and allocate appropriate units.

  • Prepare and submit short-term rental quotes for approval.

  • Coordinate new account setup with the Debtors Department.

  • Liaise with workshop and Rental Manager to ensure unit availability and readiness.

  • Escalate unavailability issues to management for resolution.

  • Process rental agreements on Business Central, including photo documentation and client sign-offs.

  • Arrange and confirm transport; inspect outgoing rentals for spec accuracy.

  • Ensure compliance with load testing and manage certification timelines.

  • Process returns, complete off-rent documentation, and liaise on damage quotes.

  • Maintain accurate records, meter readings, and client correspondence for billing.

 

​Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the rental industry (materials handling preferred).

  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Excel and Word.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

  • Organised, meticulous, and able to adapt to shifting priorities.

  • Experience in transport/logistics is advantageous.

  • Must have own reliable transport.
